Prince Tribute Shows on WRUW

Prince Rogers Nelson passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at his Paisley Park residence in Minnesota.  He was 57 years old.

Known for his innovative music and virtuoso guitar skills, he dominated the music scene for most of the 1980’s, reaching one of many highs with the soundtrack to Purple Rain.  He continued producing recording music up until the time of his death, most recently with his band 3rdeyegirl.

“When you were a weird person in the 80’s, Prince was a good person to like,” said WRUW’s DJBG on her Prince tribute show.

In the last few days since Prince’s passing, several of our WRUW radio shows devoted their programming to Prince, his music, and bands influenced by his work.
