In 1946, WFSM was founded by the Flora Stone Mather Radio Club, “broadcasting” via a public address system. Since that time, it evolved into an AM carrier-current station (WRAR, starting in 1955) and then (on February 26th, 1967) to the FM broadcast station it is now. WRUW 91.1 FM began as a ten watt mono station serving the University Circle neighborhood of Cleveland. WRUW gained stereo capability in 1974 and, in 1980, raised its power to 1,000 watts. As part of the station-wide 50th Anniversary broadcast, on February 26th the remote broadcast crew, along with Not Your Grandmother's Classical Music host Profressor Eric Charnofsky, will be broadcasting LIVE from the Cleveland Museum of Art. Our annual live music concert "Live From Lakewood" is scheduled to take place at Mahall's 20 Lanes on Thursday, March 30th, 2017. Band line-up is currently TBA in early March. The concert will feature four local bands broadcast live from Mahall's on Thursday night during Laying Down Tracks and Live From Cleveland's normal time slots (8-11 pm).
