Favorites of 2014
Charlie Saber

On Tuesday, December 30 from 4-7am, Charlie Saber reviews his top 40 favorite releases of 2014. A completely subjective listing with little basis in what any of the writers, critics, and experts will be espousing.

RIP Ian McLagan from Route 66

The sudden and unexpected passing of "Mac" from a stroke as he was just getting ready to-what else?- tour, including a stop in - where else?-Cleveland is a tragic loss of one of the living embodiments of The British Invasion ,no ifs, ands or buts...he was The Real Deal a rhythm and blues man who came by his bonafides by his work ethic and above all his love of American Music; and his contributions to music will not fade away, and neither will the joy he gave us................

Special Bob Dylan Treat for Early Morning Listeners Dec 2, 5:00am
Charlie Saber

If you're an early riser, you're in for a treat this morning. At 5:00am Charlie Saber will be airing a one hour radio special in conjunction with the release of the Complete Basement tapes.

In 1967, Bob Dylan and several members of what became The Band got together in upstate New York. For months they played and played - and recorded as they went along. It took eight years for some of the music to come out officially, but in that time, the legend of the Basement Tapes grew. Bootlegs were passed around, little hints of the bigger treasure that existed somewhere.

In this one hour radio special, you'll hear about these recordings from The Band member Garth Hudson, songwriter and author Sid Griffin, Dylan biographer Clinton Heylin, author Greil Marcus, writer Anthony DeCurtis, and producer Steve Berkowitz, plus many highlights from the full release of The Basement tapes.

If you miss the live airing of this special, you can listen to the archive at www.wruw.org/guide/ Just click on the 56k link for Charlie Saber's Rock & Country Casserole.
